NTT DoCoMo to Add 10,000 3G Base Stations by March 2007

According to a report by Jiji Press, Japanese NTT DocoMo will deploy another 10,000 3G base stations across Japan by March 2007, which will increase the current number by 40%. With this addition of base stations NTT Docomo hopes to improve its 3G coverage and solve the problem of disconnections, which are currently still being experienced by subscribers in less populated areas. Furthermore, NTT DoCoMo plans to spend 900 billion Yen to improve its communications networks in the fiscal year 2006, an increase of 50 billion Yen over the fiscal year 2005.
